David's Shield: nót the 'star of david'! - Tittle for God

David's Shield: God's title

So, the term David's Shield did originate with David, while there is no mention of a star in relation to David in biblical scripture. For centuries this term, David's Shield, has been used independently from the symbol of the hexagram! David's Shield is still in use as one of the many names, titles given to God the Almighty Father!

In the Siddur - Jewish prayer book, containing blessings some which are in the Torah, printed as early as 1486 but attributed way back to the Great Assembly at the time of the biblical period of Ezra - it is used a title of the God of Israel. Why? David's words,

1 I love you, Lord, my strength.
2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my  s h i e l d  and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. ...

30 As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he  s h i e l d s  all who take refuge in him.
31 For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God?
32 It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.
33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights. ...

35 You make your saving help my  s h i e l d, and your right hand sustains me; ...
50 He gives his king great victories; he shows unfailing love to his anointed, to David and to his descendants forever. Psalm 18 (NIV)
