David's Shield: nót the 'star of david'! - God's symbols!

God's symbols to Israel

Symbols that are unmistakably given by the Almighty Father to his congregation of Israel - a hexagram is not included - are the lampstand, the Menorah - with seven lamps, not eight - that had to be made as an exact copy of what God showed Moses on the mountain. The olive tree from which fruit the necessary oil for the lampstand would be made. The colour blue bright as the sky and the Tablets of The Law. Surely David knew  about all of this and kept God's commands also in respect to these items.

- The lampstand, Menorah
1 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give. ...
8 “Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them. 9 Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you. ...
31 “Make a lamp stand of pure gold. Hammer out its base and shaft, and make its flower like cups, buds and blossoms of one piece with them. ...
37 “Then make its seven lamps and set them up on it so that they light the space in front of it. … 40 See that you make them according to the pattern shown you on the mountain. Exodus 25 (NIV)

1 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning continually. 3 ... Aaron is to tend the lamps before the Lord from evening till morning, continually. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come.
Leviticus 24:1-3 (NIV)

The Menorah is depicted on the Emblem of the State of Israel!

- The green olive tree
Then the angel who talked with me returned and woke me up, like someone awakened from sleep. 2 He asked me, “What do you see?” I answered, “I see a solid gold lampstand with a bowl at the top and seven lamps on it, with seven channels to the lamps. 3 Also there are two olive trees by it, one on the right of the bowl and the other on its left.” 4 I asked the angel who talked with me, “What are these, my lord?” .... 6 So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty. …. 8 Then the word of the Lord came to me: 9 “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you. 10 “Who dares despise the day of small things, since the seven eyes of the Lord that range throughout the earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone[a] in the hand of Zerubbabel?”

11 Then I asked the angel, “What are these two olive trees on the right and the left of the lampstand?”12 Again I asked him, “What are these two olive branches beside the two gold pipes that pour out golden oil?” …. 14 So he said, “These are the two who are anointed to serve the Lord of all the earth.” Zechariah 4 (NIV)

The olive tree is the National Tree of the State of Israel!

- The colour blue
37 The Lord commanded Moses 38 to say to the people of Israel:
Make tassels on the corners of your garments and put a blue cord on each tassel. You are to do this for all time to come.39 The tassels will serve as reminders, and each time you see them you will remember all my commands and obey them; then you will not turn away from me and follow your own wishes and desires.40 The tassels will remind you to keep all my commands, and you will belong completely to me.41 I am the Lord your God; I brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am the Lord. Numbers 15:37-41
This blue of the sky - tekhelet, mentioned in the Bible, is a specifically produced blue colour - is regarded in Judaism as a symbol of divinity! It is also used for the Tzitzit - knotted fringes - on the Jewish prayer shawl. Exodus 28 and 39 mentions the use of blue cords also for other purposes.

This blue was not that of sapphire. Why not? Because scholars agree that sapphires were not known before the Roman Empire. What did Moses, Aaron Nadab and Abihu together with the seventy leaders of Israel see when they walked up the mountain after which Moses and Joshua continued up in order for Moses to receive God's Laws and the Tablets of the Law?
9 ... went up 10 and saw the God of Israel. Under his feet was something like a pavement made of lapis lazuli, as  bright  blue as the  s k y. 11 But God did not raise his hand against these leaders of the Israelites; they saw God, and they ate and drank. 12 The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain and stay here, and I will give you the tablets of stone with the law and commandments I have written for their instruction.” Exodus 24:9-12 (NIV)

Lapis-Lazuli is an intense blue colour obtained from a deep blue coloured semi-precious stone acquired through mining in Afghanistan as early as the 7th millennium BCE. It was used to obtain deferent shades of blue in the ancient world including ancient Mesopotamia.
Blue, together with white, is one of the colours on the National Flag of the State of Israel, which is in accordance with the colours of the Jewish prayer shawl called the tallit!

- The Tablets of The Law
12 The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain and stay here, and I will give you the tablets of stone with the law and commandments I have written for their instruction.”

13 Then Moses set out with Joshua his aide, and Moses went up on the mountain of God. 14 He said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we come back to you. Aaron and Hur are with you, and anyone involved in a dispute can go to them.” ... 18 Then Moses entered the cloud as he went on up the mountain. And he stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

These Stone Tablets inscribed with the Ten Commandments of God - Exodus chapters 31 to 34 - also called the Tablets of Testimony - Exodus 31:18 – could also be considered as a symbol to the Israelites. Moses went up the mount together with others whom stayed behind - Exodus 24:9-11 - while he continued up to receive God's Laws and these tablets, Exodus 24:12-18. Both tablets, the ones God made and inscribed – Exodus 31:17-18 - but got broken by Moses and the second ones - Exodus 34:1-5 - that Moses made but were inscribed by God, were kept in the Ark of the Covenant. What did Moses say to the Israelites concerning God's Laws?

4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:1-9 (NIV)

By the way, originally the tablets were rectangular, with sharp corners not round topped. There are depiction of these, dated the 3rd century, on the mural paintings found at the Dura Europos Synagogue in Syria, which is an ancient synagogue uncovered in 1932. This is also the case in Christian art through out the 1st millennium. There are over the centuries to this day depictions of the Tablets of The Law in Synagogues.

So many symbols that actually has a deeper meaning to the Almighty Father and his people, so other symbols to represent the Israeli people aren't really needed!
