In The News: Locust Plague-Obama-Sandstorm in Israel

The office of Barack Obama, the President of the United States - considered to be the only supper power at the moment - announced last February, that he would be making an official visit to the State of Israel. But, a plague of locusts arrived ...

...before Obama did. In Egypt an infestation of an estimated 30 million locusts, a plague of biblical proportion, devastated the crops of Giza. According to officials in Egypt the swarm of locusts migrate from the north east of Sudan to Saudi Arabia passing through Egypt. This happens every year, but this time the insects are in larger numbers and they caused significant damage in Giza and Cairo.

Through the Sinai the plague of locusts reached Israel ahead the feast of Pesach – Passover - Israel was hit by a swarm of about one million in total locusts three times within the second week of March. The plague was mainly in southern Israel, although a swarm of about 2,000 was located near Jerusalem, there was no infestation in Jerusalem's Old City. The Ministry of Agriculture used with success pesticides sprayed by air and on the ground to exterminate the insects.

In the bible the plague of the locusts was the eight plague God Almighty send - while he protected his people within Egypt - because the Pharaoh refused to grand his request, 22 ... I, the Lord, say, ‘Israel is my first-born son. 23 I told you to let my son go, so that he might worship me, but you refused. Now I am going to kill your first-born son.’” Exodus 4:22 (GNT)

Soon after God sent the ninth plague which was that of darkness, he announced he punish the Pharaoh, Egypt and their gods, 12 “On that night I will go through the land of Egypt, killing every first-born male, both human and animal, and punishing all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord. Exodus 11:12 (GNT)

All this happened in the past at the time God's gathering of his people to his land of Israel. Today we live again at a time that God has been gathering his people to Israel, and of his restoration of Israel. So, his words still stand. Let my son go!

How did Obama's three day visit - 20th to 22nd of March 2013 - to Israel go? A severe sandstorm grounded Obama's helicopter on the last day of his three-day trip to Israel. Instead he had to travel by road in his steel-plated limousine known as “The Beast” - the identical backup limo replacing the one that had a breakdown two days earlier - in a slow convoy through an Israeli checkpoint to Bethlehem.

Friday morning started with a short heat wave and a clear sky. After his early appointments that day, one of which was his visit to the Shoah memorial of Yad Vashem, he would make a visit, which lasted only 35 minutes, to the almost deserted Nativity Church in Bethlehem where he would have a more informal meting with the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas.

During this three-day trip Obama seemed to be busy assuring the sceptical Israelis of the United State's friendship and commitment to Israel. In contrast to what he said in his speech in Cairo in 2009, where he argued that the Holocaust was the reason to establish the State of Israel, at Yad Vashem Obama recognised the Jewish roots to the Holy Land. But the day before, in a speech to hundreds of students he said in so many words that they should put pressure on their political leaders to achieve change. Which change? A state for the Palestinians, who's leaders still don't want to recognise the existence of Israel as a Jewish State. With such a speech Obama bypassed, the Israeli politicians whom he also snobbed by not addressing them in the Knesset. How sincere is Obama? Obama still continues to blame the settlements of Jewish communities in Juda and Samaria as being the obstacle for peace. Obama's sweet double talk? When they sow the wind, they will reap a storm!

Meanwhile the Palestinian Authorities don't sees to glorify and honour terrorists and Mahmoud Abbas keeps sending the massage that if a Palestinian kills an Israeli he would be granted the status of a hero. And the Iran issue? While Obama was having his speeches in Israel, the Iranians had theirs. They made it clear that their response to any nation that targets their nuclear programme would be an attack on their cities. NO! They made perfectly clear that regardless of which ever nation would target them its the cities of Haifa and Tel Aviv in Israel that would be attacked. Despite this and so many other treats from the Iranians at the address of the Israelis, the Iran issue remains untouched by Obama.

At Ben Gurion Airport where the departure ceremony took place, staff were busy taking down flags because of the fierce winds that hurried Obama out of Israel on a flight to the neighbouring country of Jordan.

Was God Almighty pleased with Obama's visit, his speeches and act? Before he came there was the locusts infestation and a fierce sandstorm hurried the man out of Jerusalem and Bethlehem - birth place of King David and Yeshua/Jesus - and ultimately out of Israel a few days before the seven days feast of Pesach which started the 25th of March.
23-24 The Lord's anger is a  s t o r m, a furious wind that will rage over the heads of the wicked. It will not end until he has done all that he intends to do. In days to come his people will understand this clearly. Jeremiah 30:23-24 (GNT)

God's wish: Let my people go and let them grow within Israel!

20 “Israel, you are my dearest child, the one I love best.
Whenever I mention your name, I think[a] of you with love.
My heart goes out to you; I will be merciful.

21 Set up signs and mark the road; find again the way by which you left.
Come back, people of Israel, come home to the towns you left. Jeremiah 31:20 (GNT)

God bless you,
