Israel: a miracle to stay! - Itamar the settlement

Itamar the settlement

Itamar is an Israeli settlement named after the youngest son of Aaron, Ithamar, Exodus 6:23 and 28:1. By tradition Ithamar's buriel place is in the vicinity of the settlement. Itamar means palm tree, isle/coast. The settlement was established in 1984 by seven families of the Machon Meir Yeshiva in Jerusalem with the assistance of Amana, a Gush Emunim's settlement organization.

Gush Emunim is an Israeli messianic and political movement committed to establishing Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria. Their actions are based on the believe that according to the Torah, God gave the land to the Jewish people. Although the organization of Gush Emunim officially doesn't exist any more, nowadays they are referred to in Israeli media as Ne'emanei Eretz Ysrael, those who are loyal/faithful to the Land of Israel.

The settlement of Itamar is located in Samaria 5 kilometers southeast of Nablus. It is an orthodox Jewish community, within the municipal jurisdiction of the Shomran Regional Council, with a population of 1032 (1993) people. It is, alongside other settlements, considered by some in the international community as being illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this. Under the Oslo Accords of 1993 between Israel and the PLO, Itamar was designated as Area C. Meaning, this area has full Israeli civil and security control.

Why such attacks on civilians even in there homes? For no reason than that Itamar is one of the settlements in Samaria, just like those in Judea. But why now? Revolution in the Middle East, while in Israel unlike the surrounding countries it's still quiet in comparison. Does the settlements need a "revolution" to bring justice and "change" about?
