Déjà vu: two-state solution, no Israeli-Arab peace!

The capital city of Jerusalem will set the stage in the King David Hotel for the Israeli-Arab peace talks August this year. One of my first reactions, “here we go again”.

Why do all these leaders have such difficulty to bring new ideas, a new plan to this negotiation table? And is there really not another solution for Israel?

The Oslo I Accord
The first agreement between the Israeli government and the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), the Oslo I Accord, was in 1993. The idea was that both parties would seek to realize a two-state solution between the Israelis and the Arabs living in Israel. The US president Clinton was the broker of this agreement.

Later the Israeli leaders Yitzak Rabin with Shimon Peres and the leader of the PLO Yasser Arafat would receive a Nobel Peace Price awarded by the Norwegian Nobel Committee. A price by the way that doesn't seem to mean much lately for it is given to people and organizations that hasn't done anything what so ever - like princes receiving military honours while others do the actual fighting in wars - to achieve peace anywhere. Two examples being the prize awarded to the first black US president Barak Obama in 2009, and to the European Union in 2012. The European citizens were very impressed ;-)

The two-state solution
To this day this two-state solution agreement hasn't resulted in a peace of any sort. On the contrary the Gaza strip is governed by a terrorist organization which doesn't hesitate to kill their own people, while parts of Judah and Samaria, often referred to as the Palestinian territory, is under the leadership of the financially broke government of Mahmoud Abbas. Both in contrast to the rest of Israel which is under the control of the Israeli government. Since Israel's War of Independence in 1948, Israel has come a long way by which it has restored Jerusalem as its capital city since 1967.

Where does this idea of a two-state solution within Israel come from? Well it's nothing new. It was already proposed in 1947, only to be rejected by the Arab League while the Jewish leaders whom later would declare the State of Israel in 1948, accepted it. They were happy to have at least part of the land instead of nothing at all. The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution for the plan to partition the remaining land of the territory called Palestine - two thirds of this land was already assigned to the Arabs and became Transjordan, present day Jordan - into a Jewish State, an Arab State and the city of Jerusalem which would be under an international governing body. This is similar to what later would happen to Germany – division into West Germany, East Germany and Berlin - after WW II.

Is there any reason to believe that this two-state solution plan would ever achieve what its meant for? No. Walking on the same road to nowhere over and over again doesn't make you reach your destination!

The leaders
Why would these leaders and those who support them keep taking this same road when it comes to this Israeli-Arab matter? Human cleverness that again and again turns out to be useless. What is the quality of the ones they consult for advice in general and of those for spiritual advice?

Judging by the results of their efforts concerning the Israeli-Arab issue, political leaders including members of European royal houses, also the British - many European countries adopted a lion as their symbol. Well this doesn't mean their nobility are Judah, does it? - must be listening to prophets God didn't sent. They also give themselves over to practices of magic and the occult judging by the symbols they use and the feasts they celebrate. All be it that they try to mask these with religious practices, which don't honour God at all. For he is the only God that doesn't want any idols nor gods beside him. To ad to all this, these people enjoy the practices of magic provided by women. These leaders and their advisers have hidden plans they think no one else would see or notice.

Meanwhile these people are so in awe with themselves and each other, they can't sees to praise and honour each other with prizes and feasts while fighting each other to have the attention of the public through the media to capture their praise and admiration too.

Leaders are as good as their advisers are wise.

Divine Intervention
Aren't the people of Israel very much in need of God's intervention, real wisdom in order to achieve real solutions to the problems resulting in peace within and at all borders of Israel?

... 14 Therefore once more I will astound these people with wonder upon wonder;
the wisdom of the wise will perish, the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish.”
15 Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the Lord,
who do their work in darkness and think, “Who sees us? Who will know?” ... Isaiah 29:13-24 (NIV)

Besides a massage to the false prophets promoting 'peace' - Ezekiel 13:1-16 and as an example of God's intervention Jeremiah 28 - there is one to the women performing magic that leads to m u r d e r,
... 18 ... Will you ensnare the lives of my people but preserve your own? 19 ... By lying to my people, who listen to lies, you have killed those who should not have died and have spared those who should not live.
20 “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against your magic charms with which you ensnare people like birds and I will tear them from your arms; I will set free the people that you ensnare like birds. 21 I will tear off your veils and save my people from your hands, and they will no longer fall prey to your power. Then you will know that I am the Lord. Ezekiel 13:17-23 (NIV)

God's massage to all leaders, actually to all,
... 4 ... ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: When any of the Israelites set up idols in their hearts and put a wicked stumbling block before their faces and then go to a prophet, I the Lord will answer them myself in keeping with their great idolatry. ... 6 “Therefore say to the people of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Repent! Turn from your idols and renounce all your detestable practices! ... Ezekiel 14:1-11 (NIV)

Having said all this, we should continue to pray for these leaders, that they may come to God's senses.

Peace to Israel
If not peace through the two-state solution, what else?
There are other ideas when it comes to a Peace Plan for Israel. In an interview with Naftali Bennett, Israeli Minister of Economy ( 09-03-2014), he explained his idea of peace within Israel through economic ties between between Jews and Palestinians. But, he also made it clear that Israel should remain a Jewish State, not based on religious grounds but on Jewish and democratic grounds.

At the time of David it was first the Kingdom then the peace. Establishing the Kingdom of Israel in Jerusalem - Daniel 2, Acts 1:6-7 - will lead to Israel having peace within and at all boarders. Are their people within Israel who are seeking to achieve this at all? When this happens we'll know we have leaders who follows God's will and more over people that would honour God for real. That is through their hearts and deeds.

4 For the Israelites will live many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred stones, without ephod or household gods. 5 Afterward the Israelites will return and seek the Lord their God and D a v i d their king. They will come trembling to the Lord and to his blessings in the last days. Hosea 3:4-5 (NIV)

... 15 “‘In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line;
he will do what is just and right in the land. ... Jeremiah 33 (NIV)

Well I for one is seeking, and surely many others. I believe King David is on his way to Jerusalem, Israel. Have his seat ready!

God bless you,
