U2 rocks under The Claw

U2, no introduction needed, are busy with their U2 360o world tour promoting their 2009 album No Line on the Horizon. On this tour they have been visiting stadiums since 2009 and will continue to do so through out 2011. For the stage set they use The Claw. That is ...?

... a massive, four legged supper sized rig in which all the necessary high tech they need for the show is built in. This stage structure has set a world record for the largest concert stage structure. The 360o stands for their 360-degree staging of The Claw that is surrounded on all sides by the audience, which in turn increases the bands revenues. U2's tour holds at the moment the record for the highest-grossing tour of all time and when it concludes July 2011 it will be the tour with the highest attendance of all time.

At the conclusion of their tour, the band intents to leave three structures standing in different parts of the world for the purpose of them being turned into permanent stages. They consider it to be a unique and original structure to use for their gigs. What does The Claw remind me of?

Bronze claws

19 “Then I wanted to know the meaning of the fourth beast, which was different from all the others and most terrifying, with its iron teeth and bronze claws—the beast that crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left.

Of this passage, I was red in Daniel 7:19 (NIV). Living in the End Times, reading about it in the book of Daniel and be confronted with such a gigantic claw just baffles me. I wonder, what were they thinking?

Keep in mind, I'm not saying that U2 had this structure built on purpose to be a symbol of the end times. Neither that the band is trampling anyone. Come to think that it's them standing under the claw while performing and part of their crowd.

This in turn does not necessarily mean either that they are being trampled. Although Bono did suffer a back injury for which he had surgery in 2010. I hope he'll get well soon. His brand Red did have a lot of criticism and isn't doing as well as they hoped and their home country Ireland is having one of the worse economic crisis of the countries in Europe. Ad to all that, U2 also did have a lot of criticisms for getting their band Dutch based in the Netherlands, which by the way is their own business and not a crime. They must have had their reasons to do that. Come to think that God knows what such a high ranking band had and still has to deal with. Their is no business like show business! ;-)

Still, to build such a structure and celebrate it by this particular band U2 like this. Just the mere fact that in these times, something like that can be so visible, in this way for all to see. Still, may God bless U2, hopefully they will all come to their senses.

U2 in Israel?

The only time U2 performed in Israel was in 1997 in Tel Aviv. In 2008, the year Israel celebrated its 60th anniversary, Bono turned down an invitation of President Shimon Peres for the Machar Conference in Israel. On this 360o tour, last year they said they would perform in Israel, but Israel is to this day not scheduled in their tour list. I forgive Bono, U2 those and still invite them to go to Israel in a different way. On pilgrimage? Yes, it may do them good to leave politics, work and fears behind and go on a private pilgrimage to Israel as so many do, including Christians. Salomon's prayer still stands, even though at this time only the land on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem where the Temple once stood and will stand is there. Still it is and remains Holy Land. Salomon's prayer in 1 Kings 8:41-43 (NIV):

1 “As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your name— 42 for they will hear of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm—when they come and pray toward this temple, 43 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Do whatever the foreigner asks of you ...

As for The Claw, I thank God we don't have to be trampled. I, and many others, may sing:
"And now I have found what I have been looking for"
That is, God Almighty's amazing grace.

And the trampling of Jerusalem, Israel? Despite all that,

6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May those who love you be secure.
Psalm 122:6 (NIV)

... 6 ... but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place.  ...

Zechariah 12:1-9 (NIV)

For the Almighty Father will ♫ remain and his promises will be fulfilled.

God bless you,
