Birthright: which king, Charles or William?!

The United Kingdom (UK) and the Commonwealth realms are preparing to celebrate the diamond jubilee, the 60th anniversary, of queen Elizabeth's accession to the throne. Several national and regional events will be organized in 2012 to mark that day.

Amids all this the question remains. Who will be her successor on the throne? Do the British even need a monarchy? And is, or will the British monarch be any good to Israel?

Entertainment

There are other means of warming up the public for the occasion of 2012 already put in place. Their is plenty of entertainment on television. For example the Irish/Canadian television series The Tudors. A historical fiction based on the reign of the English King Henry VIII - warning: twisted historical facts! - from whom the Windsors descent on maternal side through his sister Margaret. By the way on paternal side the Windsors descent from the German royal family Saxe-Coburg Gotha of the House of Wettin, Enerstine line not the Albertine line. Back in 1917 they changed their name into Windsor because of the high anti-German sentiment at the time of World War I. There are also the documentaries, for example about queen Elizabeth's father king Albert, regnant name king George VI, a film about him called 'The King's Speech', and there is much more.

By bringing past kings and queens into memory and generating more publicity for the current members of the royal family, the British hope to have the world gazing at the UK and at some of the countries of the Commonwealth for a while
