Jesus came to fulfill! What actually?

There is so much to learn about God's plans with his creation. Take now what he has to say about his plans with Israel. Although many church leaders and Christians in general would say that in present day and the near future God's plans with the Church is what counts.

The Church has a special status, while Israel …

… is part of that which is passé. Many would argue that Israel as a country, a land, a state is part of that which is vanishing. Their will be a new heaven and new Jerusalem, so paying attention to Israel and the Israelites including their more recent history in our modern time is a waist of time. Besides all those rumors of war, actual wars in the Middle East and the to some people 'winning' about the Holocaust / Shoah is tiresome. So much so, that these people's heart become hard and their ears deaf for whatever there is to say concerning Israel and the Israelites, the Jews. And even learning from historical events to prevent the same genocide from happening again is of no importance. The strange thing is that generally speaking people are of the opinion that events of the past won't happen again, as if they are special in some way and won't be part of nor be harmed by such events.

Amid all this Christians hold the thought that Jesus Christ / Yeshua Messiah came to fulfill, Matthew 5:17: 17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

Meaning by many, to live by the law to realize the prophecies about him in his life, to set up a new congregation which is the Church to get ready to ultimately be part of God's new Jerusalem and new heaven. The Church would in fact replace Israel in every way. And the amazing thing is, that all the centuries old prophecies concerning Israel and the Jewish people are completely ignored. Except when it comes to the End Times, the last seven years before Yeshua Messiah's coming. Israelites are 'special' in being left behind together with Christians who were not ready to go through extreme hardships, while the Church will be 'raptured' to enjoy heaven. The biblical books of Revelation and Daniel are mainly given to back this theory. But, Daniel chapter two and Daniel 7:27 are conveniently skipped. Could it be because of the prophecy written in this following passage?

44 “In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever. 45 This is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands—a rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold to pieces. The great God has shown the king what will take place in the future. The dream is true and its interpretation is trustworthy.” ... Daniel 2:44-45 (NIV)

27 Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.'
Daniel 7:27
(NIV)

Now, where does this leave us? Even more, what did Yeshua Messiah actually come to fulfill?
Matthew 5:17 continues with verse 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
What is this everything that has to be accomplished while the Law will n o t disappear? Could it be promises the Almighty God made to the Israelites are part of this everything? Which promises? Just to mention a few:

  • Abraham, his descendants and the land, Genesis 12:1-9, Jeremiah 31:23-30, Ezekiel 36:16-38, notice verse 35;

  • New covenant, Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Yeshua Messiah a Jew talking to Jews in Luke 22:20;

  • Jerusalem, Zechariah 12:6, Isaiah 2:3 and the new Jerusalem is Israeli, Revelation 21 9-14;

  • Gathering of the Israelites - and with them those grafted in Israel, the olive tree, Romans 11? - not one of them left behind, Ezekiel 39:28-29.

And what did Paul had to say about the Israelites? He says in Romans 9:4-5 (NIV),
4 the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption to sonship; theirs the divine glory, the c o v e n a n t s, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. 5 Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah. God who is over all be forever praised! [a] Amen [a: there are other versions]

Is it a problem for Christians to acknowledge all these and more concerning Israel and the Israelites. No! For we do have a great example, that of the first non-Jew, Christian at the time of Yeshua Messiah's disciples, Cornelius who was ... a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment. 2 He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly … as the book of Acts chapter 10 (NIV) tells us. For the non-Jews, Gentiles were always invited to come to pray at God's Temple, 1 Kings 8:41-43. Cornelius and his family was chosen by the Almighty Father to be part of his one household, congregation, his olive tree which is Israel. He was the first one at that time to experience Ephesian 2:11-22, while remaining humble, Romans 11:13-24.

So, what did Yeshua Messiah come to fulfill? Romans 15:8 (NIV) puts it like this, 8 For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews[a] on behalf of God's truth, so that the p r o m i s e s made to the patriarchs might be confirmed 9 and, moreover, that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written: Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing the praises of your name.”[b]
[a: Greek circumcision, b: 2 Samuel 22:50; Psalm 18:49]

Yeshua Messiah came as a servant of circumcision on behalf of God's truth to fulfill the Law in order to confirm the promises made by God to the patriarchs, for as Romans 11:28-29 (GNT) says, the Israelites, the Jews … because of God's choice, they are his friends[a] because of their ancestors.29 For God does not change his mind about whom he chooses and blesses. [a: other versions, loved]

The Almighty God who is eternal and for whom a thousand years is like a day, gave his promises to the patriarchs and his prophecies to his prophets less than a week ago.

After all,

“Listen to me, my people; hear me, my nation: Instruction will go out from me; my justice will become a light to the nations.
Isaiah 51:4 [NKJV says: For law will proceed from Me]

God bless you,
