Kings and Queens: no shame for gain!

Several countries in Europe are in an economic crises. The economic down turn seems to affect every one. Governments of European countries issued bail outs and all sorts of measures to keep major banks standing and …

… in doing so they were also trying to prevent certain countries from getting bankrupt.  What started in the United States as a bank problem triggered by the sell and buy of mortgage-debt between banks including international banks, spread itself as an oil stain over the banks in the rest of the world including the banks in Europe. Tackling this problem means a stagnation in the economic growth in general and a massive job loss. As a result many people are going through financial harsh times, and everybody has less and less to spend.

Wrong. In the Netherlands, one of the European countries with a constitutional monarchy, the spending power of the public does go down, but the allowance for the queen and her family, whom are rich people, stay the same. Now lets be clear about this. These people do work hard for their country, but then so do others. And many would want to work just as hard on a job to provide for themselves and their family but because of the economic situation at the moment they don't have a job.

What's wrong with these leaders? The constitutional monarchies in the rest of Europe aren't any different. Can't these leaders at least show a gesture, walk up front in showing a good example to the public of their country? This is not about being rich, but about mentality and generosity. These people do live of the public's tax money. By the way, which ever system of government is put in place in a country is fine, as long as it's fair to the public. Now, you could argue that the government decides how much a monarch's allowance is, and the public puts the politicians in place. Right, of course to a certain extent. So, what's wrong with these politicians? Are they unable for whatever reasons to do something about this lack of solidarity of the royal family with the public? Or, most of those in power agree with this in the first place. The elite, scratching each others back?

The Dutch Queen Beatrix, her son first in line to the throne prince Willem Alexander and the rest of her family call themselves Christians. Is this just an image to them, or do they actually take God Almighty and his word, biblical scripture, seriously? Wouldn't it be great if it's the later? Why? Because the Almighty Father gives kings and queens the following commands, Deuteronomy 17:14-20:

- Don't accumulate to much riches,
… 16 The king, moreover, must not acquire great numbers of horses for himself …
17 … He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold. ...

- Don't be above the law,
… 18 When he takes the throne of his kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law, taken from that of the Levitical priests. 19 It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the LORD his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees ...

- Don't put yourselves on pedestals,
20 and not consider himself better than his fellow Israelites and turn from the law to the right or to the left. …

And the Almighty Father gives these leaders an example to follow, 1 Chronicles 29:1-9:
... 3 Besides, in my devotion to the temple of my God I now give my personal treasures of gold and silver for the temple of my God, over and above everything I have provided for this holy temple: ... Now, who is willing to consecrate themselves to the LORD today?” ...

King David gave up part of his personal wealth to a project meant for the public. David is an example of a ruler who choose to give an example, to inspire not by words and his presence at charity 'parties', but by his deeds, actions! The king, the highest leader, gave first the example! Other leaders followed and ultimately the rest of the public. He choose to obey his God's decrees.

... 6 Then the leaders of families, the officers of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and the officials in charge of the king's work gave willingly. 9 The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the LORD. David the king also rejoiced ...

If the Christian kings and queens don't take all these words seriously, I'm afraid we are dealing with vultures in disguise who have no shame at all, in order to gain from and over the backs of hard working tax-paying people in society. So much shameless, sinful greed.

Almighty God forgive these people they truly need your grace. Pray for these people!

God bless you,
